Membership

Essex Stragglers Orienteering Society (commonly known as SOS) was formed in 1968 and centres its activities in North East Essex. Our membership base extends from Chelmsford to Colchester and Sudbury to Southend.

We aim to provide around eight orienteering events during the year with the majority being held from September to May.

SOS actively supports and encourages a Schools Orienteering League between Essex and Suffolk schools and youth organisations.

It is not necessary to join a club, but the fellowship of like-minded compeditors and the support and information from the club network and newsletter can help you to get the best from a challenging family sport. There is also a reduction in entry fees of £2 for seniors, so the membership fee will pay for itself after a few events!
